Chromebooks will improve my student’s ability to understand math concepts through the digital use of modeling, charting, interactive discussion, and skills remediation. Our school has adopted a textbook that has additional learning activities online and has Edgenuity, a program that allows for basic skill development and extension through STEM based learning and projects online. However, many of my students don’t have access to a computer at home. With Chromebooks, the students will be able to utilize all the online activities while in the classroom.
My goal is to open learning opportunities for all students through technology to create students who are life-long learners. For my students with special learning needs, Chromebooks can open the world of learning by providing alternate methods of math analysis, curriculum accommodations, or interactive video/audio lessons. Also, my English Language Learners (ELL) are learning their second language, while learning the current mathematics content. Chromebooks will allow them online access to curriculum in their native language and in English. Translation apps will help them become active participants in the current classroom discussions as well!
Chromebooks will allow students to complete work digitally and engage in discussion boards with other students within the class and across the district! The students who struggle will be able to practice and relearn missing skills at their own learning pace and level using online resources. They will be motivated by tracking their own progress, gaining immediate feedback, and following their individual growth! Students will be engaged in their learning through experimentation with online mathematical graphing and geometry tools. This piece is important because they will be learning digital skills that are immediately applicable in the real world and in the modern workplace.
Please help me open the world of digital learning for my students! You can be the catalyst for change!
