Having easily accessible library shelving and comfy cushions to sit on in our classroom library will encourage students to enjoy the area and even spend more time reading. My students are beginning readers and need to spend time interacting with books in a fun and welcoming environment. Making the class room library exciting and easy to use will capture the student's attention. When they are looking at books just for fun they are also learning by being exposed to letters, words, punctuation, sentences, etc. Often students will come to the teacher with a book, excited to show that they recognized something they had talked about in class. Fulfilling this project would have a profound impact on current students as well as those future students for many years to come.
