What's Missing in My Perfect Classroom? A MacBook!
Funded Nov 9, 2019Having a MacBook Air has really impacted myself as an educator in the classroom as well as in professional development opportunities. The MacBook Air is not only quick and easy to use, but its lightweight properties makes it easy to carry from one place to another, whether it's to another part of a classroom or to a meeting.
In the school building, I am able to effectively teach my lessons with the use of powerpoints and displaying documents and photographs/videos in the classroom in a quick and effective fashion. Also, being that conferencing with students is key to keep track of student progress, I can quickly type my conference notes of my child in a shared file so I as well as my co-teacher can have access to it. This way, if any of us conferences with a child already conferenced by the other teacher, we will know what to work on.
When I went to Teacher's College for a professional development workshop, I was inclined to take my MacBook Air to type up notes and share with the grade. Also, if the workshop gives us online resources, I can easily type up the URL to take a look right away.
I also am able to use the MacBook Air to access to webinars such as on EdWeb.net to work on my CTLE hours.
Thank you to my donors for your contributions to this wonderful project!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018The color printer I have received from my previous Donor's Choose project was heavily in use and a great contribution to my classroom. To keep it going, I needed to restock on ink and paper. With the help of a generous donation, it became possible. I was able to continue to print out color handouts and any last-minute documents for the students. As a special ed teacher, I always feel that if my original plan doesn't work, I can always take a second to print out things like a color aid or a graphic organizer to better assist them.
I am very excited to continue to use my printer with my new stock of ink and paper.
I'd like to thank those who have donated to make this possible!”

Funded Aug 15, 2017Having my own color printer in my classroom has been a great impact in my classroom. The kids love the fact that there is a color printer available as a teacher resource, and always love when I am printing resources, worksheets, graphic organizers, etc., and constantly ask me, "Mrs. Ng, what are you printing now?"
I needed a color printer for many reasons. One reason is printing color resources and graphic organizers. I work in a school with a great percentage of ESL students and IEP students. In my own room, I work with IEP students in an ICT classroom, and even have a few students who just came to the country with little to no knowledge of the English language. I love to create handouts with color visual aids, where the students respond with more success of understanding of the content being taught. I also do the same with graphic organizers (ex. the 5 senses graphic organizer I used to help my small group write a small moment in their writer's journals, they loved the color pictures aiding the organizer and helped them a lot). I also print out color resources to hang around the classroom and bulletin boards, which makes information students need to acquire more accessible and inviting.
Another reason why I needed a color printer, or a printer itself, was because sometimes you just need one readily available in the classroom! I work in a large school and sometimes I do not get my copies in time. Other times, I may have a last-minute idea and being able to hop on my laptop, create it, hit print, and it's there in an instant. This helps my students because if my original ideas do not work but another idea does, being able to print last-minute ideas in an instant makes learning a lot more accessible.
I would like to thank all my donors for making this possible. Having a color printer in my own classroom has become quite a blessing and has been a great impact for my students, my coteacher, and myself.”
