I teach 7th grade math and am looking to incorporate technology into my classroom. As a teacher, you see all different types of learners in your classroom and it's important to let kids have the opportunity to explore, create, and participate in hands-on activities. Technology and use of technology in our society is increasing at a rapid rate and is a vital part of how we interact, learn, and share information. I would love to be able to incorporate use of technology in my classroom for my students in order to engage them in learning and allow them to explore or create different types of math tasks in small groups. Student engagement is an important key for the success of student's learning and technology is a way to draw student's in and allow them to be able to take learning into their own hands. As a middle school teacher, I have seen how technology is a huge draw to my students ( you understand if you have ever tried to take away a 13 year old's cell phone ) and would benefit them to have this learning opportunity. The math program we are using this year as a school has a lot of activities where the students can perform discovery activities online instead of just on paper. By having 5 iPads for my classroom, I would be able to let students discover and participate in these hands on activities during small group rotations/stations. I would love to be able to have that option to incorporate that into my lessons and watch my kids grow in their learning ability and creativity.
