Our school is old which means the supplies are old as well. I am towards the end of my second year of teaching first grade and I am slowly trying to turn my classroom into a warm, welcoming and safe place for students to learn. My tables are old and they have pieces that fall off from them. The top coat also peels off in sheets and is distracting as well as dysfunctional. I would love to have 6 new tables to use in my classroom so that the kids can be safe and happy during the school day. I am focusing on increasing their concentration and focus, their sense of community and their excitement. I believe this will be much easier if we have new sturdy tables at which to work, read, play, write, draw and think.
