Nothing ignites my passion to teach more than the high engagement and inquiry level of my students! To better reach my students needs and create this atmosphere of engaged learning, I have begun implementing flexible seating in to my classroom. The results have been greater than I imagined. My hope is to further add to my array of flexible seating items, to help my students remain focused, emotionally stable, and engaged. Wobble chairs and cushions will be used to allow my students to be active while still focusing on their work. The two stools will be an addition to the standing tables. This will provide students with the option of standing or sitting. The stadium chairs will allow students to sit more comfortably at the carpet, providing back support. Many of the flexibly seating options around the room do not have a desk top. The lap trays will give my students the ability to use a hard surface at any seating. Not only is it important for my students' needs to be met academically, but also emotionally. The fluorescent lighting in my classroom is extremely harsh and creates a tense atmosphere which is why I typically only keep the front lights on. The light covers would help to create a calm and relaxed environment. My students sometimes struggle with their academics, their social life, and home life. Because of this, I have a corner in my room where they can take a break. The stress balls would be an addition to this area.
