When students are able to be comfortable, relaxed and feel safe then they have the opportunity to truly learn. Some students prefer to stand, some prefer to move, while others prefer to sit on the floor on a pillow. Having a flexible classroom students are provided seating options to allow or assist them in being academically successful. Students are more likely to be motivated and hold themselves accountable when they are able to learn in more student centered environment. I chose standing desk for students that like to stand during instruction. Last year, two of my students asked to stand during instruction and student engagement. Therefore, the standing desk are ideal. The portable lap desk are useful for students that would rather sit on the carpet. The balance balls were chosen for the students that need movement while being actively engaged in learning. Lastly, stools and chair bands for students prefer nontraditional seating options.
