Students love these interesting articles. We also play the digital games as whole group or individual activities! The articles have science and social studies topics so we can integrate the news articles into all subjects, not just English Language Arts. Reluctant readers are excited to read with Scholastic News! We can also use these during independent reading and the back page of the magazine has questions about the article so students have a purpose for reading. Setting a purpose for reading has been proven to help students retain and comprehend information. My ESL students can even get access to Spanish versions to make sure they learn the content too!
