This project will allow my students to thrive in the area of reading. I cater to individual students needs and work with students specifically on what they need to improve on while also encouraging their strengths. These book sets lend themselves to this, as well as book clubs, and independent reading. These books also reach more students then those just in my classroom. The reading group I receive for guided reading are from other classrooms. These students will also benefit from these texts. I pull small groups of 6 students in 3 different groups that have similar needs. I work with these students on strategies that will make them successful readers. After meeting with each student individually and setting goals with them, I see each group daily and cover phonics and word work, reading comprehension strategies, decoding, and writing. Students are able to keep these texts for the week to re-read and write about. The goal is that each student will read at grade level.
