Having just 5 Chromebooks of our own would make a major difference! Currently, my class shares one class set of Chromebooks with over 60 fourth grade students. This means that we have limited access to technology on a daily basis. Additionally, we lose total access to our shared Chromebook cart during school wide testing, which happens several times a year. With 5 Chromebooks, small groups of students could use targeted websites and apps during ELA and math stations. For example, if students need to work on reading fluency, they can listen to stories and record their own reading using RAZ kids. If students struggle with vocabulary, or need to gain knowledge of new English words, they practice using games on Quizlet. Additionally, if students struggle with their multiplication facts, they can practice through fun and engaging games on multiplication or khanacademy. These examples are just the beginning. Having our own set of Chromebooks open up opportunities for collaborative projects, like making Google Slides presentations, or participating in Google Classroom. The school wide Chromebooks are in constant demand, and it is clear that we need more access to technology!
