We currently own a half class set of ukuleles. Due to budget constraints at the time, I felt it was a worthwhile investment and that students could partner up and help each other while learning to play. Over the last few years, it's become apparent that this style of lesson delivery is just not efficient. I spend double the time teaching the same material twice and our skills progress very slowly. Kids are often bored when they do not have an instrument in their hands. Students with ukuleles in hand 100% of the rehearsal time show skill progression exponentially faster. Students will still be able to work collaboratively with other students by performing "partner checks" without losing out on the precious time that could be spent practicing simultaneously. Partner work always seems to function better when there are enough materials for everyone.
