Funded Oct 19, 2007Thank you so much for funding my project for music CDs and instruments. I am so excited and cannot wait to see the joy on the faces of all the children in my classroom. It is so important to expose young children to the arts. You never know when a child's talent will be uncovered. We cannot wait to start singing and dancing. Thank you so much. Music is an important part of a child's early development. Thank you notes and photos will be sent soon. Stay tuned.

Little Bob the Builder and Miss Wendy are Ready to Start Pre-Konstruction
Funded Sep 24, 2007Thank you so much for deciding to fund my proposal for early childhood construction materials. I was so happy when I found out and cannot wait for the children to begin using them.
I feel it will really help with both their gross and fine motor skills. The children will be able to use their imagination and role play with friends. It is wonderful to know that there are people who care enough about children and their education to fund a project such as mine. I cannot thank you enough. I look forward to the materials. Thank you again for your generosity.

Small Hands Waiting to Grasp Newton's Apples
Funded Aug 6, 2007It is so heartwarming to know that their are people out there who really care about children. I cannot thank you enough for funding my project. All of these materials will be used for learning while the children are playing. I believe that spontaneous, imaginative activities lead to happier, healthier children. These materials will keep the children engaged in constant, explicit learning that is a crucial dynamic of physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development for children. Using manipulatives such as the ones you are supplying the children will allow them to play which is what gets children to learn in the first place. Children need to engage in play that is both fun and educational in order to foster their inborn disposition for curiosity, imagination, and fantasy. I thank you for your generosity and kindness in allowing 18 little people to have materials that will nourish their cognitive, social, and emotional development. I look forward to receiving these materials and I will take great pictures so you can see the children in action. Thank you once again”

Rock & Roll and Hip Hop Must Not be the Only Rhythms...pre-k must also Dance to the Beat of Algorithms
Funded Jun 28, 2007I am was excited to learn that my proposal had been funded. I firmly believe that early mathematical development fosters the independent and critical thinking that is sorely absent in today's society...not to mention one or two engineers who might emerge from this class. I cannot wait to utilize these materials and the children will have a great time using them.
I will be sending photos soon so stay tuned.
Thank you once again. Susan ”

Tales for Tots in the Big Apple
Funded Jun 14, 2007As we fast forward into the paperless electronic era, I was overjoyed to hear that someone out there still knows the value of snuggling up in bed with someone special and a good book.
Our classroom will benefit from these books. We read each day in class and I have a lending library where children are encouraged to bring books home to read with their families.
It was a beautiful day here in New York City.
I checked my e-mail at 10 pm and discovered that my proposal had been funded. I was so excited and cannot wait to share these wonderful picture books with my young students. Thank you so much for your generosity. Thank you for making a bigger difference than you will ever realize”

Power Tools for Building Self-Esteem
Funded Jun 6, 2007What wonderful news! It is a Tuesday evening, in a small
village outside of New York City. My children are doing their homework and I decided to check on my proposal. I am so
excited and cannot wait to get started. I discussed the importance of self-esteem with another teacher today and really feel that it is necessary in the classroom. I did not attend a school as a child that foster self-esteem in students. I firmly
believe fostering self-esteem should be mandated in schools across the country. I cringe when I hear sarcastic comments made by teachers toward children. I cringe even more when I
witness public humiliation tactics being used. For example, at
one point we were told to use rubrics from 1 to 4 on children's work. A couple of teacher's displayed work with a rubric of 1 on the wall in the hallway of our school. These children were publicly humiliated. Grades are a private matter. I believe in displaying work without grades and without negative comments. I promise to use these materials to help foster self-esteem. I will send pictures and write to you on how our lessons went. Thank you for funding this proposal and for believing in
the importance of self-esteem. All human beings need encouragement and kind words. Thank you”

Global Warnings can Fire Up our Pre-K to help them Preserve their Planet
Funded Jun 1, 2007It is Sunday morning in a small village just
outside of New York City. I just read my e-mails
and discovered that my proposal had been funded.
I was overjoyed and cannot wait to get started in
September with my pre-k students who will be
attending school for the very first time. I love
teaching young children because they love school and are filled with enthusiasm. It was so
generous and kind of you to fund our proposal.
There are so many people who are striving to
make this world a better place. I cannot thank
you enough and I promise to make everyday a
learning day. New materials make the learning
experience even more exciting. I will be sending
photographs of the children so you can get a
more concrete glimpse into our classroom.
Thank you once again”
