  • Newsweek for Pre-K Speak

    Funded Nov 19, 2008

What wonderful NEWS! Thank you so much for deciding to fund our proposal for a subscription to Weekly Reader! It is so important for children to keep up with news from their communities as well as from around the world. Weekly Reader is great because it teaches themes from all the curriculum areas. This magazine will open their eyes to the outside community and the colorful pictures will capture their attention. Thank you for believing in the importance of an early childhood education and for giving my young students' the opportunity to be exposed to current events. This magazine will most definitely capture their interest and spark their imagination.

    Thank Yo”

  • Move Over Beyonce and Shakira...Pre-K is Ready to Dance

    Funded Oct 17, 2008

Thank you so much for deciding to fund our proposal! It made my day and I look forward to using our new materials. Children love to sing and dance. Music helps children feel happy and feel good about themselves and others. I always play music while the children are playing in their centers. We will use the musical instruments for group activities. They will experience using instruments and will also get a chance to practice working cooperatively with others. Singing and playing music together also encourages every child to sing and remember tunes. The children will not only be experiencing rhythm and movement but will also be engaging in language development. Thank you for caring enough about children to fund this proposal. I really appreciate your generosity”

  • Cultivating a Garden of Successful Learners

    Funded Oct 14, 2008

Thank you so much for deciding to fund my proposal. You made my day! The children really need to experience nature up close and watch the life cycle in action. Each child will get to experience the joy of planting a seed and watching it grow. They will also be responsible for cultivating the garden and will learn to take good care of it. This will truly be a fun learning experience for the children. Everyone will be involved in this project in a meaningful way and I believe it will lead them to be more aware of the environment as a whole”

  • The Chefs of the Future

    Funded Sep 28, 2008

I checked my e-mail and was overjoyed to see that my proposal for play items for our housekeeping center was funded. Thank you so much for making this generous donation. Our classroom is filled with eighteen four year olds who are curious, like hands-on activities, and love to play. The children will get a chance to recreate real life situations that they have observed and even create scenarios of their own. Imagination is a vital thing, and it is crucial that adults do not stifle it. It is also important that young children get an opportunity to express themselves and play with other children. Thank you for helping my classroom become an interactive place for children where they can really learn through play experiences”

  • A Renaissance Block Party Comes To The Bronx

    Funded Sep 23, 2008

What a wonderful surprise! I just checked my e-mail and was overjoyed to read that my proposal for manipulatives for our block center had been funded. Thank you so much. These manipulatives will make a big difference in our classroom. The children will be able to experience cooperation and teamwork as they play in the center. These figurines will bring this area to life and will definitely stir their imaginations.

While they play, they will be building early childhood skills such as problem solving, sequencing, language development and early building concepts. I cannot wait to get started. Thank you so much for your generosity and concern for others”

  • From Bored With School to Chairman of the Board

    Funded Sep 21, 2008

I cannot thank you enough for funding our project. The school year is now in full swing and we are ready to get to work. The children will benefit greatly from the big books, storytelling kit, alphabet cutters and craft materials. Nothing matters more than educating a generation of young people. I am working hard with the children in my care and am determined that they have a positive experience in pre-k. Thank you for caring enough about young children to fund this project. It is a wonderful feeling to know that there are kind, generous people out there who truly care about children and their education. We look forward to the arrival of our new materials. Thank you once again”

  • Making Masterpieces with Model Magic

    Funded Jun 19, 2008

Thank you so much for deciding to fund our proposal. We cannot afford as a nation to leave as many children behind as we have. My young children are living in an urban, struggling community and are not experiencing the norms as children attending schools in the suburbs. Thank you for helping to motivate young children and enabling them to be successful. The children will have the opportunity to express themselves through art each day. The children will be busy learning while having fun in a productive way. You have made a big difference in the lives of 18 little children. Thank you”

  • Children Don't Need Gucci or J-Lo Bags to Craft Their Dreams

    Funded May 30, 2008

I am overjoyed at your decision to fund our project for tote bags and craft materials.

It is Saturday afternoon on a rainy day in a suburb outside of New York City. I am in my local library checking e-mails when I received the wonderful news. My children are watching a play, the Chronicles of Narnia in another room of the library. I am trying to find the words to express my gratitude. I love children and I love seeing children at risk receive the very best education. Your generosity is a good investment in their learning process and helps me in my job by producing productive, happy and ethical citizens in our society. The children will have so much fun with materials and at the same time will be practicing important early childhood skills. These materials will help broaden their horizons and give them the opportunity to express themselves. In the early grades, so many of the materials are consumable so we really need people like you to help us out. Thank you so much for your generosity and for caring about young children. You will make a difference in the lives of 18 children in New York City. Thank You

  • Children Who Long to be Caldicott Award Winners Someday

    Funded Apr 11, 2008

I am writing to you on a bright, sunny Saturday morning and what a wonderful way to start the weekend. I am so delighted that my class in September will be able to benefit from writing journals. I have used these journals with other classes and had terrific results. I will be able to encourage the children to write and illustrate stories daily. The children will have personal books they can be proud of and it will serve as a special keepsake. I love to see the sense of joy and accomplishment when the children complete a piece of writing. Children love to draw and write about their lives and what they see in the world around them. I am so grateful to you for supplying us with these early learning journals. I know that the children will really benefit from them. Stay tuned for photos of the children in action! Thank you so much”

  • Toys R'nt Us

    Funded Mar 2, 2008

I am ecstatic-this is terrific news! Thank you so much for funding our proposal and for caring so much about us. We are a hardworking pre-k and love to learn. We will be setting up a storytelling center where the children can go and use the story props to retell stories. Young children love to hear stories and it is so important to expose children to literature early. They always listen a little more when the stories come with exciting props that they can actually see and hold. The two mazes will be used to teach specific skills such as sorting, and counting and at the same time, they will learn about the power of magnetic properties. The photo cards will be used for language development and to teach logical thinking. I cannot wait to get started and will take good care of these materials. I plan to use these materials for many years to come. Stay tuned for pictures of the children in action and for their notes. Susa”

My students are four years old and growing up in a big urban neighborhood. Our families are working hard to make ends meet. Our school is filled with caring adults who strive to give the children a stellar education. Our school budget has been cut so we often do not have the financial resources to purchase items we need. The parents of our students very often do not the extra money to buy educational materials for their children and this is why we try so hard to have them available at school.
