The Bare Necessities of Pre-K
Funded Jun 29, 2013Thank you so much Sarah for all the wonderful supplies that were donated to our preschool classroom. These materials were definitely needed to provide the children with an amazing, magical year. Four year olds are curious and are learning when they do something as simple as use watercolors or make a collage. They enjoy art and are learning important life skills such as sharing, compromising, cooperation, and negotiation.
Thank you for also giving them the opportunity to use their senses to discover their world. They will truly enjoy these essential early childhood materials and will be putting their little imaginations to work at the same time. Watching children create works of art and use their imagination is extremely fulfilling.
Having the right art materials helps set up students for success and creates an early love of learning. We do art activities everyday as we integrate art into every subject. Hands-on activities are so important for the development of young children. I cannot thank you enough.”

Watch Out, Auguste Rodin, Pre-K is Working on Masterpieces
Funded May 25, 2013Thank you all so much for deciding to fund our proposal for different kinds of clay and modeling dough. We needed these materials and the children will have so much fun using the various different art mediums.
Children love play doh. I remember loving play doh as a child and I am enjoying watching my enthusiastic little group of preschoolers having fun with it. Playing with play doh and clay is building up strength in their fingers and hands. It is so important for children to have fine motor strength so they can hold a pencil correctly when learning how to write.
The model magic and hardening clay will be used to create objects such as animal sculptures. I plan to integrate a science lesson on different animals and their habitats. Creating a sculpture which has been inspired by science, developed from imagination, and literally molded by their own hands is what learning is all about. The children will have a tangible object that they can be proud of for many years to come. Thank you all for your donation!”

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
Funded Jun 29, 2013Hi Sarah! Thank you so much for all the wonderful gifts to our classroom.
As we fast forward into the paperless electronic era, I was so happy to hear that the children would be receiving some knew books to snuggle up in bed with someone special.
Our classroom will benefit from these books because we will learn about different careers and different cultures. We will read each day in class and I have a lending library where children will be encouraged to bring books home to read with their families. The children are going to love using the pouches to bring home books.
I had so much enjoyment this week reading to the children and seeing them engaged in the stories. We spent many precious moments reading together as a class. The story books are filled with rich language and beautiful pictures. Picture books have the power to get little children excited about reading and writing.
The children are not only enjoying reading the books but are learning skills to become lifelong readers. I even saw one little girl pretend to be a teacher and read to the class. Thank you for these special books and for helping to foster
a love of reading for my young students.”

If At First You Don't Succeed...Tri Tri Again
Funded Sep 11, 2013"Does this sound familiar, "Can I go out and play?" and "Can so and so come out and play?" As children, we got to play outside even if we grew up in New York City like me. Children today do not always get this opportunity. It seems impossible to think about childhood or young children without also thinking of playing outdoors. Now because of your donation, my preschoolers will all get the chance to ride tricycles and scooters.
The scooters are awesome! The children love them and are getting so much exercise. They are having so much fun and are enjoying socializing with their friends.
Once again, thank you, your donation has made a big difference. Stay tuned for photos of the children in action!”

Little Einsteins from the Big Apple
Funded Jul 25, 2013Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am so excited because our science center is fantastic. The children love the science viewers and they are always available for the children to use. The plant specimens are also in the science center and the children have been observing them each day.
The fish aquarium is really beautiful and the children have been enjoying watching the fish swim and eat. Thank you so much for the filters as these are needed every few months or so. The children are benefiting from having a fish tank in the classroom because they are being given the opportunity to watch nature up close.
It is wonderful to know that there are people out there who care about children and their education. Thank you for helping a terrific group of children and for helping me provide "magical" year of learning in my preschool classroom. All of you have transformed my classroom into a stimulating learning environment. Thank You!”

Inner City Meets Mother Nature's Global Family
Funded Jun 29, 2013Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am so excited because we just set up the
awesome hermit crab cage. The children are loving watching our three new crabs crawl and climb and are enjoying feeding them as well. I am a nature lover myself so I feel really fortunate that I am able to watch the crabs along with the children. We also set up the snail's habitat. The children are able to see the snails in three stages of their development. We are observing snail eggs, baby snails and fully developed snails.
The children are really benefitting from this experience because they are being
given the opportunity to watch nature up close. It is wonderful to know that there are people out there like you Sarah who care about children and their education. Thank you for helping a terrific group of children and for helping me provide another "magical" year of learning in my preschool classroom. I think of you and speak of your generosity with fellow teachers.
You have transformed my classroom into a stimulatin learning environment. Thank You!”

I gave our mats a good cleaning and I was very excited about putting on the new flannel sheets. I also have a stuffed animal for each child to use with their cozy mats. All children love to snuggle at naptime and these new flannel sheets will give the children a better rest period. I will wash the sheets when necessary and keep them in good condition. Thank you all so much for your generosity and for caring enough about children to fund this proposal. I hope you enjoy our photos of the children resting peacefully. Once again, thank you.”

Newsweek for Pre-K Speak
Funded May 16, 2013Thank you, thank you, thank you! The children love to read their special newspapers and they are learning so much. It makes each child feel so grown up and they are eager to begin reading. The children light up when it time to read their newspapers.
The children will learn about holidays, current events, feelings, other people, and the world about them. It is a fun but educational way to learn! The newspapers are giving the children a chance to speak in class and orally discuss the news. The children are also able to follow the simple text and this is building their reading skills.
I am so thankful to each one of you for giving my young students the opportunity to gain new information and to be given the chance at becoming successful future readers. It will be so rewarding to see the children grow in leaps and bounds physically, mentally, and emotionally this year and your donation will certainly help in their development.”
