  • Big Apple Kids Long to Learn About Mother Nature’s Family

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

The children were completely engaged and interested in learning about the animals that they met via zoom. When the children are engaged, I believe I will keep their interest which will lead to a strong foundation in early childhood science. The Alley Pond Environmental Center truly made nature come alive.

Preschoolers learn best through experiences that are integrated and multi-sensory. The children learned about the different characteristics of animals and their habitats. This experience enriched our Pre-K program and the children had a wonderful time. Thank you for helping us explore science right here in our classroom.

I have yet to meet a child who was not interested in animals. This experience may lead to a lifetime of learning in exploration and discovery. Thank you so much for funding this awesome program.”

  • A Year of Magical Thinking

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Wow!! The materials have arrived and they are fantastic! I am so blessed to have wonderful people out there who care about the education of young children. I am truly grateful. I am so excited about this gift especially since I am always running out of items like play doh. I know this doesn't sound like an emergency but when you teach Kindergarten it is.

The children will love these new materials and it will definitely help with their fine motor skills.

I will take pictures so you can see how much joy these new materials will bring to our classroom. You may not be able to see an improvement in their fine motor skills but I can assure you that these materials will make a big difference.

The children love hands on activities and if they do not experience it in kindergarten, they may not get another chance. I love to see young children use their imagination using play doh and toys like Mr. Potato Head and the burst of creativity that happens afterward. Thank you so much for your support and generosity.

We appreciate your kindness and concern for children you never met but decided to help!”

  • Little Einsteins from the Big Apple

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am so excited because our science materials have arrived. The children love the dinosaurs and farm animals!! I plan to always have them available for the children to play with.

Thank you so much for the interactive board books as well. The children love to read them and it is truly sparking their curious, little minds. The children also enjoy experimenting and learning from the fun, color changing board! It is wonderful to know that there are people out there who care about children and their education.

Thank you for helping a terrific group of children and for helping me provide "magical" year of learning in my preschool classroom. You have definitely transformed my classroom into a stimulating learning environment. Thank You”

  • Little Mathematicians from New York City

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

Woohoo! We are all so excited right now as we have received our new math materials. The children are not wasting a second getting to work. Math is so important and is often overlooked as the emphasis is usually on literacy. I love to see children excel at math especially when they are having fun at the same time. Learning math is always easier and more productive when it is hands- on especially in the early childhood years.

The children will be so enthusiastic and engaged when they have the opportunity to use these wonderful manipulatives. The children will work and play together and will learn important life skills such as sharing, compromising, cooperation, and negotiation. Four year olds are learning and having fun when they do something as simple as sorting buttons and bears by color, shape and size. I cannot thank you enough!

My little students will form friendships and partnerships while learning important basic PreK skills. Thank you for helping us to transform our classroom into one that will enable us to have a "magical year." Please know that you have touched the lives of some very special four year olds. Thank you so much!”

  • Puzzled in PreK

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

The children have started using the magnificent puzzles! The children are able to do the puzzles independently or as part of a small group. It is great to see them work together to complete a puzzle because they are not only building academic skills but social skills as well. I have never met a child who doesn't enjoy doing puzzles. The look of pride and accomplishment on a child's face after completing a puzzle is priceless!

The puzzles will help the children with their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, spacial awareness, critical thinking and problem solving skills. It will also foster social development among the students. The children are learning and problem solving in a fun and productive way. It is an enjoyable and challenging way for children to build academic and social skills.

Thank you so much for giving my students the wonderful, priceless opportunity to work on puzzles. It is an important and necessary part of an early childhood education. I really appreciate your generosity and all you have done for my curious little sponges. The puzzles will be used for many, many years to come by enthusiastic four year olds. Thank you for your generosity and concern!”

  • Snacks, Sweats for Sweet Preschoolers

    Funded Feb 8, 2022

Woohoo!! The children are enjoying their snacks and we are all so grateful!. Thank you to all of you for donating the clothes, Pringles, Mickey Pez dispensers, kinder joy eggs, and the Peppa pig plates to our Pre-K classroom. These yummy snacks will be used for parties, birthdays and all kinds of celebrations. These wonderful experiences will make a big difference in their PreKindergarten experience.

The other children usually have a snack so we always like to have something on hand for those who did not bring a snack. We always need extra clothes for when the children get wet, sick or have an accident. The children will work and play together as they enjoy their snacks.

Once again, I am so grateful! My little students will not only form friendships and partnerships while learning, they will get to enjoy yummy snacks together. Thank You for helping us to transform our classroom into one that will enable us to have a "magical year."”

  • Happy, Warm, Comfortable Preschoolers

    Funded Feb 10, 2022

We are so excited with all the great donations that were delivered this week!!

Today we enjoyed the yogurt snacks and it was a big hit. The children found them tasty and they are healthy.

Thank You so much for funding our proposal for all the delicious snacks and for the adorable Peppa Pig shirt. I am so appreciative and these items are definitely needed. My preschoolers are so active and we constantly need snacks. We will use these yummy treats in the upcoming months for holidays, celebrations, birthdays, and for a pretend camping trip. We need a shirt in case of an accident such as when a child gets wet or really dirty.

Snacks are needed for our kids because they get hungry and look forward to a treat. Today one of the children did not bring a snack from home so it was great to have some treats on hand to give her. The children always feel so bad when they do not have something for snacktime. A snack helps the children stay focused and will give them energy while improving their mood. The children will be so excited to receive a treat in school and these are memories they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Thank You so much for your thoughtfulness and concern for a terrific group of PreK students. Happy New Year!”

  • Comfy Sheets Matter

    Funded Feb 5, 2022

Thank You, Thank You!! I am looking forward to seeing the happy smiles on the faces of our preschoolers when they receive their new comfy sheets. The children are small, loving, curious, energetic, and always look forward to their nap time in class.

We have had these sheets for many years and with the constant washing over the years, they are really old and raggy.

They need these sheets for rest time not only for comfort but for sanitary reasons. The children will love their new sheets as they lie down because they get overtired and exhausted from their busy, stimulating schedule. Rest promotes alertness as well as a sense of security. I also feel these new sheets will make them comfortable and give them a sense of security. They will be soft and smooth and will keep the children cozy as they are flannel. They will surely have a peaceful nap.

I am so appreciative and my young students will benefit greatly. My preschoolers are so active, it's no wonder they need a good nap. Thank You so much for your thoughtfulness and concern for a terrific group of PreK students. Once again,

    Thank You!”

Woohoo!! I am so excited to hear our proposal was funded. Thank you to all of you for donating cereal, chips, Pez dispensers, ring pops, squeezable yogurt, and t shirts to our Pre-K classroom. The new white t shirts will be used for the children to use fabric paint to decorate their very own shirt. The snacks will be used for parties, birthdays and all kinds of celebrations. These wonderful experiences will make a big difference in their PreKindergarten experience.

The other children usually have a snack so we always like to have something on hand for those who did not bring a snack. Thank you for the soap as we are all constantly washing our hands and trying to keep the room as clean as possible.

The children will work and play together and will learn important life skills such as sharing, compromising, cooperation, and negotiation. Four year olds are learning and having fun when they do something as simple as design their own shirt or making a fruit loop necklace.

My students are four years old and growing up in a big urban neighborhood. Our families are working hard to make ends meet. Our school is filled with caring adults who strive to give the children a stellar education. Our school budget has been cut so we often do not have the financial resources to purchase items we need. The parents of our students very often do not the extra money to buy educational materials for their children and this is why we try so hard to have them available at school.
