The first 30 minutes of class is for independent reading. Students are able to pick the books they like during this time. Adding these books to the classroom library, will provide students with a wide range of interesting books. Independent reading is a major part of the curriculum and students need variety of books to keep them interested and motivated to read. Students also like to share with classmates what they are reading and this really peeks student interest. With a huge selection of books, students are more likely to find something of interest to them, even the most reluctant readers.
