Experts agree that students learn best using varied styles of instruction from one-to-one, small group and large group. These materials will make a difference by creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. During large group, students receive direct instruction from the teacher and also learn about character education traits such as responsibility and being a good friend to all. While on the rug, students share personal experiences with classmates. Having a rug to accommodate all of the students will help every child feel that his/her views are heard and valued. Having the bean bags will allow students to work together in a small group setting to complete "center work" and also to provide a comfortable place for learning. In short, the materials will optimize student engagement and learning via cooperative learning.
