  • Writing Journals and Reading Comprehension Centers

    Funded May 12, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donations. Your donation has allowed my students to each have a writing journal of their own! These daily workbooks have been helping my students strengthen skills that I may not have time to touch on otherwise. In addition, it is allowing my students to grow and fill the gap due to pandemic teaching. Each week, my students are focusing on a new writing piece. These journals are helping them with their independence and their confidence!

Once again, thank you so much for helping my classroom obtain these amazing reading comprehension journals!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lauria

  • Finding Evidence in Our Texts!

    Funded May 12, 2021

Teaching students to answer constructed response questions correctly and with sufficient text evidence can be quite the feat. This resource is helping my kiddos develop skills in reading comprehension, inferences, compare & contrast, main idea, point of view, author's purpose, characters, text features, key details and finding evidence in text.

As a teacher, my duty is to press students for evidence to justify their responses, whether the responses are oral or written. Everyday in the classroom, I want my students to get used to hearing as well as saying comments such as "Prove it," or "What's your evidence?" This Finding Evidence Comprehension Kit has been making a difference in their reading comprehension during the readers' workshop.

Thank you so much for this amazing resource that I will use for many years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Lauria

  • Virtually Imagining an iMac!

    Funded Apr 7, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation that has allowed me to obtain a brand new Mac desktop. I have been using the desktop to teach my students remotely. The desktop has allowed me to livestream videos during our live meets. For example, I am able to livestream our literacy read alouds clearly without any static. In addition, my students love following along to art videos on Arthub! No longer do I need to hear students saying my presentation is lagging. As we prepare to return to the school building full time next year, I will transfer the desktop from being in my home to my classroom. Students will be able to use the desktop to complete research and complete their assignments on online platforms such as I-Ready and Zearn. Once again, thank you so much for your generous donation! My students and I are beyond thankful.”

  • Classroom Makeover

    Funded Apr 7, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donations that will allow my classroom to go under a makeover this upcoming September! I can't wait to create a bright, beautiful learning environment for my students to walk into after experiencing such a challenging year. The paper and decorations will allow me to take down all the torn, tattered, staple-ridden bulletin boards and put up fresh paper to make everything new again! The decorations will give my room just the new look I am hoping for and make my students excited and happy to come to school each day! I can't wait to post the motivational posters around the room and to place the plants in the library nook! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much!”

  • Ringing in 2021 With Our Personal Art Sets!

    Funded Apr 7, 2021

Thank you so for your generous donations that have allowed my students to each have a personal art set. Due to the pandemic, students have been presented with many challenges. One challenge is not having all the supplies they need when working remotely. These art kits have been given to the students in the hybrid program to use on their remote learning day. We have been enjoying using our personal art kits to complete some art activities. My students love following along with the youtube channel "Art for Kids Hub". Each day we spend 20 minutes drawing a new picture during "art time".

Once again, thank you so much for making my students so happy and excited! They truly love their art sets and are extremely thankful!”

  • Engaging Content For Remote Learners

    Funded Apr 7, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donations! From this project, I was given several gifts cards to Teachers Pay Teachers, also known as TPT. TPT is a place where creative teachers come together and share their ideas for various units, projects for distance learning, technology adaptations as well as Curriculum Based Learning, Literature Studies, and Social-Emotional Learning.

I was able to purchase some engaging content for my students. For example, I purchased a Math Bundle that has cool games to help students review the content they have learned, digital by color multiplication activities to help increase their fluency, and reading task cards to deepen our comprehension level! The amazing part of this all s that I will be able to utilize the purchases from this donation for years to come. From the bottom of our hearts, we are truly thankful!”

  • Incentives for Remote Students!

    Funded Apr 7, 2021

First and foremost, I wanted to thank you so much for your generous donations that has allowed this project to be fully funded. My school has been following the hybrid model for learning this year which has had its fair share of challenges. One challenge I began noticing is the lack of motivation and engagement for some of my students when learning remotely or online. This is when I thought of the possible idea of having incentives! I began having a drawing randomly using a wheel of fortune spinner. In order to be part of the raffle, all students had to do was participate and try their best when completing assignments. The lucky winner was able to pick a toy or item from Amazon and I would have it delivered straight to their home! However, this began getting a little expensive for me and the raffles were beginning to become more spread out. This is when I decided to create a project on donors choose to help me continue my incentives for remote students. When I told my students about the 20 gift cards we received and how we will be having a raffle every week, they were so happy and excited! From the bottom of our hearts, my students and I are beyond thankful!”

  • Graphic Novels

    Funded Jan 13, 2021

Thank you so much for thinking of my students and I during this difficult time. For this project, my students and I were able to receive some cool graphic novels from our favorite series. These series include Lunch lady, Bone, Squish, and Dragonbreath. My students were extremely excited when hearing about this project being funded and even more excited when seeing these books arrived! My students have already picked their books and began reading them! Just by looking at their smiles and body language warms my heart! From the bottom of my heart, hank you for putting these amazing books in the hands of my student!”

Research has shown that students make more positive gains academically when working in small groups. Students are placed in groups based on their readiness ability. This allows me to better meed their needs at their individual level. By having a variety of high-interest center activities for students to use independently, this will allow me to successful manage a classroom through rotations. In mathematics, the Power Pen resource will allow my students to increase their number fluency and self-monitor their work. In addition, students can use the resource to practice or review math skills covered during whole group instruction. In Literacy, students can practice annotating the text using dry-erase markers through a process known as close reading. This will help them master the Common Core State Assessments that will be administered during the Spring.
