I work with students with mental and physical disabilities. I have a classroom of 8 students and 2 adults. They are the sweetest and funniest children I know. They come to school ready to learn despite their many challenges. Many of my students have speech and language difficulties to the point of having difficulty understanding or comprehending what they are saying. However, if you are dedicated to the children by watching facial expressions or using sign language you know exactly what they are communicating. My job is very rewarding and challenging at the same time. I love working with my students at John P. Parker and I wouldn't trade it for the world! My students keep me grounded and just as much as I am changing their lives they are also changing mine. We love to learn, love, and lift each other up. My students love hands-on practical experiences such as technology, gardening, cooking, etc.
