Robots in The Room!! Programming Botley to go to work!!
Funded Nov 15, 2022Thank you for investing in the educational experiences of our students. The future of our students is impacted by the education they receive today. Your generous support is improving the experiences for multiple groups of students on our campus. The use of coding is becoming a new area of business that we must begin using in the elementary levels of schools. This gift will start that class for our students.”

Funded Oct 2, 2020I want to thank you for funding a project for my classroom this school year. This year has been like no other in so many ways. The world has forever been altered by this virus. For school, teachers and students are learning how to adjust to this new experience with trial and error. I have used the funding of this project to find online activities to help engage my virtual students in the learning. I was able to purchase lessons in math and science to help students share their ideas and practice their skills on a deeper level. Thank you for investing in my students and their education.”

Funded Aug 31, 2017Thank you for your support this school year. My students come from low economic backgrounds. Part of my need for supplies in my classroom is to give my students as much hands-on experiences as possible in class. They are often not exposed to real world science activities offered in museums and parks. I try to bring their learning alive for them and make it relevant to them. This helps to ensure their understanding and help to apply their learning.
The kits we ordered for this grant were based on electric circuits and magnetism. This are two areas that students truly need to experience to be able to understand. The hands-on activities made it possible for students to be able to talk about their learning and show how to make it work. The ESL students really need all the opportunities possible to do, talk, and write about their learning.
We also were able to purchase science games that included questions dealing with all areas of science we are learning this year. Students can use the games to review their vocabulary and their comprehension of the concepts, after we have studied the units. My students are very competitive, so this is a great motivation for their learning.”

Funded Dec 21, 2018Thank you for your support through Donorschoose. It is programs like this that help improve the classrooms for many students across America. I am a teacher in the Houston school district. Like many districts across the state our budget continues to be cut each year, making it harder to purchase quality materials for our students. By your support and sponsorship for the news magazine, 'Time for Kids', my students have access to current news event that is effecting our world today. It opens the classroom discussions about controversial topics such as equality issues between men and women, animals endangered by human acts, and environmental changes occurring around the world. Once again, let me say thank you from all my students at Ed White Elementary.”

Connecting to the World Around Us With Reading!
Funded Oct 2, 2017I wanted to thank Chevron for sponsoring our wonderful class this year. I know Chevron is dedicated to helping students to become excited about learning science and the world around them. My students have enjoyed every magazine in the Super Science Scholastic program that they receive each month. It is a real joy for me, as their teacher, to see them excited and making connections to articles in the magazine. This gift is a gift that reaches, not only my students, but also their families who they share their reading and new learning.”

Ms. McMahan
