Books take us to another world. Books give us a chance to use our imagination. Providing students with a variety of books and different ways to experience these books will enhance their learning experience. So many of my students are without books at home and really need them at school. The books will provide the students an opportunity to read something outside of a textbook. They will get to select books they are interested in and explore new concepts based on their interests. The listening center will provide students the opportunity to listen to books they can not read. They can look at the words and pictures while being read to. The listening center will provide them examples of fluency which will help them when they read books independently. The magazine subscription will allow students to see other kinds of print outside of books. It will be an example of nonfiction texts they can learn from while still having fun too. The variety of books that I chose for this project will allow students the opportunity to really understand that reading is fun and can be fun, no matter what you are reading.
