  • Headphones Are as Unique as Your Hearing!

    I wish you could have seen the smile on my students' faces when they learned that you had donated your own money to allow us to have headphones. They are now able to use the computer in a more effective way that allows them to learn without small distractions. Students take great care of the headphones that we have and were excited to share the news to their parents about how we were able to get new headphones for their ears!

    The many students of whom I teach are not all accustomed to receiving brand new items for their own use. They couldn't have been happier to find out the these items were donated for their use! We were able to welcome one new student to our classroom this year from another country, and he was very excited to get to use the headphones. You have made a huge impact on our classroom and have shown us how we can give back to others.”

  • Mathematics for Recess!!

    My students and I cannot thank you enough for your kind donation. I have began teaching the games to students, so that they can play during their small group math time and during recess. When I told students where all the games had come from they were amazed. They were so happy that there were kind enough people to donate their own money to allow us to have brand new math games. Students were so excited to see all of the packages coming in, most of the packages were shipped with only 1-2 items in each. "Ms. Adkins, we have another package! Can we please open it?" Of course once we all completed our work, we were able to open the package and see what our special delivery was.

These 10 headphones will make a huge difference during guided reading and small group math. During guided reading students are broken up into three groups based on their reading levels. All students will have the chance to visit the computer station at least three times a week during reading and math groups, and more when the time is allowed. Students on the computer are on research based programs. During small group reading students are completing lessons on Lexia or Reading Plus. During small group math, students are completing lessons on Dreambox. In order for these programs to work, and students to reach their full potential, students have to listen closely to the program. When students have a set of headphones their learning becomes individualized to focus on what he/she needs. By providing my students with new, quality headphones, students will be able to maximize their individualized learning. Not only will headphones benefit my incoming students but students of years to come.
