My goal is to create a classroom that reaches all learners, the way they learn! In order to allow for student movement, collaboration and optimal learning, I'd like students to have a variety of seating options that best reflect their style of learning. “Teachers need to engage students in a greater variety of postures, including walking, lying down, moving, leaning against a wall or desk, perching, or even squatting.” Brain research also confirms that physical activity—moving, stretching, and walking—can actually enhance the learning process. Your donation to my project will help students have the option to choose the seating that best meets their needs. Allowing student choice will help to alleviate the "wiggles" that children get when they may be uncomfortable in their seat. By incorporating balance ball chairs, balance discs, and wiggle stools into my classroom, I will be targeting the physical, as well as educational needs of my students. This will allow optimal communication, teamwork, collaboration and learning to take place!
