My students will use the beanbag chair, rocker chair, and sensory swing when they reach a sensory overload from an overwhelming environment and need a break. They will be able to stym on the liquid mats and manipulatives while getting ready to learn. Although my students all have individualized needs, all of them will be able to use the social skills cards to model and practice using appropriate social skills in their environment. I will be able to use the manipulatives with my nonverbal students in order to help them develop important math foundations. The bins will help myself and the aides in my classroom to keep those materials organized, as every second is crucial in an Autistic Support classroom. The standup white board and markers will help me travel to an individual's desk and adjust my lessons as needed. Finally, the timers will help create a structured and routine environment for my students as well as my paraprofessionals, so everyone can be on the same page. My students will benefit so much from these materials, and being a first year teacher it has been a challenge to set up the classroom to ensure I maintain a sensory friendly and welcoming classroom.
