My goal is for my students to feel excited and ignited with a passion for knowledge every day they come into my classroom. I take pleasure in creating a positive, comfortable space for my kids to learn. Having a flexible classroom in which my students can be successful readers and writers is my goal.
Everyone knows reading is so much better when you are comfortable! Children have unique learning styles, and my students are a diverse group of kids who need diverse ways to access their learning. One of the most important roles of a teacher is to figure out how to engage and enhance the learning of each student. Flexible seating offers students the opportunity to discover what style works best for them. Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Some need structure offered by the classic desk. Others are motivated by being able to choose their learning positions. Allowing students to relax and forget they are in a classroom setting will motivate them to focus. I want my students to associate comfort and home with the love of reading in our classroom. The rug will provide students with a comfortable surface to complete their assignments as our classrooms are equipped with tile. The wobble and balance ball chairs will allow students the opportunity to wiggle and listen. The bean bags and will provide a comfy option and can easily be moved when it is necessary.
