  • Nice and Warm

    Funded Jan 22, 2025

Thank you to all of my wonderful donors that have helped bring this project to life. My students will be excited to receive new coats to help them stay warm. I cannot to see the kids in their new coats. It has been really cold here this week in Oklahoma.

Again, thank you so much for your continued support of our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Murphy

  • New Year, New Groove

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

We received the new supplies, and my students have been using them that day. The pencil grips are being used by my students that need a little more practice on holding their pencil. I have noticed that they have been helping a little. I am hoping to transition the student to using a pencil without the grip soon.

We my students first saw the new supplies; they were curious to see what everything was. As I began to unpack the supplies my students wanted to know who sent the supplies and why did people want to give them to us.

Flu season is upon us. The Kleenex will come in very handy. My students love using the different types of pencils and grips. I have been letting all of my students try out the supplies. Thank you suppling our classroom.”

  • Panther Cheer

    Funded Jul 2, 2024

Our cheerleaders were very excited to receive their new pom-poms and bows. They have been using them to cheer at the football games. They love getting to use them while cheering. Last year, our cheerleaders did not have poms to use.

When our cheerleaders first saw the pom-poms, they could not wait to open them and use them. They had to be fluffed out before they could use them. We received enough sets for the cheerleaders to have two sets.

The girls couldn't wait to cheer. We were also able to do a fundraiser, where we raised enough money to get new cheer uniforms. The pom-poms completed their uniforms.”

  • Snacks for All!

    Funded Jan 9, 2024

Some of these snacks were sent home with students over spring break. The students were so excited that they got to take them home over the break. We have also been using these snacks for end of the day. Sometimes, lunch has worn off and they just need a little extra at the end of the day.

When they first saw the snacks, they were so excited. They debated on which box of snacks to open first. They decided on the cookies and yahoos. It was funny to watch which snacks they chose. Some of the students chose things I would have never thought they would eat.

I have one student that wanted the salt and vinegar chips. They asked if I would save all of them because they really like that kind, and their parents wouldn't let them have them. When I asked why they couldn't have them at home, the child said because their mom did not like the smell of vinegar.

The rest of the snacks will be sent home for summer break.”

  • Panther Pride Store

    Funded Oct 17, 2023

We received our supplies and separated them into clear tubs. We used the glitter foam paper to label each of the tubs. We then came up with a price for each of the prizes. We also, came up with a design for the Panther bucks. We printed those on the card stock.

Once we printed the Panther bucks, students started earning the bucks by completing their daily work. Some students were able to earn more by helping other students. They saved up their Panther bucks to buy prizes. It was fun to see which students would save up their money versus spend it as soon as they received it.

The lesson I wanted my students to learn was if you save your money, you can buy the bigger items or things in life. I had some students that would spend their money as soon as they earned it, and others would save it for the bigger prize. They all did so good.”

  • Bundle Up!

    Funded Oct 17, 2023

My students received their new coats just in time for winter in Oklahoma. They were so excited to receive these. Some of the parents, even texted me expressing how grateful they were too. These coats have helped keep my babies warm. Winter has arrived and has been very cold since Christmas break. We have been virtual several days due to freezing weather.

My students loved the colors of the coats. Some of the girls were excited that they received the same colors as their friends. I had a couple of the boys that also had matching coats. The boys thought it was really cool because they are best friends.

I had one student that tell me that she cried because a stranger bought her a coat and she didn't get to tell them thank. I thought that was really sweet of her. I told her that I would tell them thank you and they would get to see the picture of her wearing the new coat.

Donorschoose is amazing and the impact it has in students lives is undeniable. I am very thank for all of my donors.”

  • New Year, New Beginnings

    Funded Aug 11, 2023

We began using the journals as we received them. We do journal writing daily. My students love that the journals have a place to draw a picture with each journal prompt. They are learning to write in complete sentences and use capital letters, spacing and punctuation. The index cards are used weekly for their sight words. They studied them daily in class as well. They are eager to learn and love using all of the new supplies.

When we received the new supplies, they were excited to get the journals, so they could write in them. I love how they take out their journals when they come into the classroom and start writing.

I have one student that really struggles with writing. I read the writing prompt to them and they draw a picture and then I write the sentence about the picture. The student has now started writing a few words of the sentence. It is amazing to watch the student, especially when they realize they can do it themselves.”

  • Books for Christmas

    Funded Jan 23, 2023

My students loved receiving these books. They loved the "How to Catch" books. They wanted to build the traps that were in the books. They really wanted to catch the elf, since it was almost Christmas. I believe that it is important to develop a love for reading at an early age and these books will help do that.

My students were reading these books under their desks with flashlights and their pillows. They were so quiet and were enjoying their books and did not want to stop reading when it was time.

I had one student that really made me laugh. He said, "I really need to build the trap to catch the elf because I have one in my house that really likes to make messes and he keeps getting me in trouble." His mom had sent me a message a few days later telling me about the trap he built to catch the elf. I loved how intrigued he became by reading this book.”

  • Paper Plate Craft Surprise

    Funded May 10, 2023

We have been using our supplies to complete several art projects such as dinosaurs and apple crafts. My students have been very excited to create these projects. They love creating art projects. They like the apple craft better, but the dinosaurs were much cuter.

When my students first saw the supplies, they were excited because they thought they were going to get to have snacks. However, when I told them they were not for snacks, they were a little bummed until I told them they were for crafts.

I have one student who just couldn't grasp the idea that the plates weren't for just eating on that these could be used for crafts as well. Once I showed him what the crafts were going to look like he decided to try to make them. It was fun seeing his reaction once he completed his craft.

I still have many more craft and project ideas to complete.”

  • Holiday Surprise

    Funded Dec 6, 2022

My kids were so excited to receive the blankets and toys for the holidays. They took them home with them for the break. They all loved the feel of the blankets. They were so soft. At the time, I had all boys and they loved the dinosaur cars. I let them chose their car.

When they first saw the materials, they were all excited about the snacks. They didn't know what the blankets were because they were in a box. We opened the boxes and they were excited about how soft they were.

The kids all took a bag full of goodies home. They wanted to show their parents what they had received from school. They loved playing with their cars and wrapping up in their blankets.”

I teach at a Title 1 school located just north of Stilwell, Oklahoma in Adair County. We have approximately 130 students, all of whom receive free or reduced lunches. My students come to school eager to learn and are willing to try just about anything I suggest. I want my students to have the opportunities to succeed in the classroom by having the up-to-date materials and supplies. If my students don't have the necessary materials and supplies needed, I feel that I have somewhat failed my students.
