I would like to use Chromebooks in the classroom so that I may maximize the learning for my students in all subject areas. With the incorporation of technology, my students who previously refused to work began to complete their assignments. Technology is a great motivator for students to learn and stay engaged. I would like to incorporate the use of technology into my writing. My plan is to have each student use Utah Compose to complete Information, Persuasive, and Narrative essays. Using this resource, the students will gain keyboarding skills, online pre-writing skills, and valuable feedback on their writing. Utah Compose also offers literacy lessons and activities to build student knowledge. This will allow the students to practice for the Sage writing assessment. As a fourth grade team, we rotate for science. All the students in the fourth grade would be able to use these Chromebooks to simulate experiments, for research as well as for review by using websites such as Kahoot, Quizizz and Wizer.me. As a team, we are also incorporating the use of technology into our math units through the ALEKS program. This allows students to work on their own level as well as receive help from the program on concepts they may be struggling with. This summer, I attended the Online Formative Assessment and Digital Storytelling class. With this understanding, I hope to incorporate my knowledge to create formative assessments online, to use in all subject areas, as well as for review using the SAGE portal.
