Becoming Better Readers Through WRITING

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 7 other donors.

My students have a writing focus wall with anchor charts and a word wall. The writing console would serve as a base under the bulletin board to hold materials such as paper, writing utensils, and writing prompt kits and games. Flexible seating cushions would be stored nearby so that students could easily access them. With these new materials, students would be excited to write because they would have clear direction, fun and engaging writing activities, and a comfortable space to record their thoughts. Students would have access to this writing center each and every day with the understanding that writing helps us become better readers.
