My project focuses on measuring tools that will help my kids in both science and math skills. I am requesting measurement materials including stopwatches, weights, a Hands-On Measurement Center, and Bucket Balance. By giving them these tools, they can practice measuring in real life situations. Being from other countries that only use the metric system, my students need hands-on opportunities to see and touch US Customary units of measure. When students are given hands-on materials and allowed to explore on their own, they start to take ownership of their learning. This also helps them make real world connections that they can apply later in life. Students enjoy using manipulatives much more than seeing pictures in a textbook. This project will help put those manipulatives in their hands and help them become engaged in their learning.
