I believe students need a positive, comfortable and exciting place to read. Funds will be used to create a classroom reading corner: reading rug, comfy student bean bags, much needed new books for our classroom library, center supplies, and last but not least, student magazines for each student (which are no longer provided by our school due to budget cuts). Scholastic News and/or Time For Kids magazines are not only student friendly and incredibly visual but they also expose our students to a variety of non-fiction text. These supplemental reading resources will be used in small group instruction to scaffold comprehension strategies.
