Keep Us Healthy and Learning! Mantenernos Saludables y Aprendiendo!
Funded Aug 28, 2020Happy New Year and I hope you and all your families are staying healthy. I am happy to report that my students were able to use the materials that you all helped provide. These materials have helped us decorate our classroom and keep our spirits high while maintaining social distancing guidelines.
With your gracious donations, you helped us get bulletin board paper, beautiful borders, motivational posters, a calendar set, name tags, decorative flowers, sharpeners and card stock paper. All these materials helped create a safe and nurturing environment where students could focus on their learning.
Lastly, you helped us obtain disposable masks and hand sanitizer, which were indispensable everyday resources for our children in the physical classroom. Thank you for helping make our classroom into a safe haven for learning this year.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Velez
Supplies for a Dual Language Classroom
Funded Jul 20, 2017My students are using the resources you all so graciously supplied on Social Studies projects. We are going to make relief maps using the playdough you all supplied. We are using the globes to learn about geography. Our sharpeners, markers and post-its are helping my students with all the reading and writing they do across their various subjects. The baskets especially were really helpful because I had the opportunity to organize a library for my students by language. In addition, the red and blue pocket charts further helped my students with their language acquisition as they separate their English and Spanish vocabulary by language and color.
When my students first saw the materials they were so excited to start using them. They couldn't wait to start, so very early on we worked on learning about continents and oceans using the globes to identify different parts of the world. With the notebooks they were able to write down their findings. These materials helped get my students off to a great start for the school year.
In the near future, my students are going to be using the playdough for Science projects as we begin learning about matter. In Social Studies, we are going to begin our next unit on Nigeria where students are going to be making relief maps about Africa to practice their geography skills. With these maps, they're going to show the mountains, deserts and rivers they find. Thank you once again for supporting my students' learning and working towards shaping a better future for these students' education.”
