Since I have taught at two different school buildings and separate grade levels, my materials, supplies, and decorations have become scarce or not present at all. I will be teaching about 37 second graders this fall, and we need a classroom that's inviting and ready for learning, growing, and nurturing. In the Beloit School District, three-fourths of our students are from low-income families. Many of my students experience trauma and carry those burdens with them all the time. My goal is to create a classroom that is trauma sensitive. This means, not only will my classroom environment look safe and calm, but I will have many strategies in place to ensure my first graders feel those things too. This is a large goal, but I don't have the means to get all the supplies and materials on my own, and that's where your help would truly be appreciated.
