My students are passionate, curious, intelligent, as well as, let's face it, sometimes overwhelmed by the rigors of high school academics. My students are most engaged when assignments and projects are "student centered"--in other words, the more I consider their inherent interests, the more they succeed. Part of my effort to be student centered is embodied in making projects as authentic as possible and considering what would hold their imagination and open doors to new passions and interests.
