Many of my students have very little knowledge about other cultures around the world. They will only learn about these differences through books read by them and to them. It is important that we teach tolerance for others through books rich in different cultures and backgrounds. Through these books, my student will also be exposed to vocabulary that will enrich their lives. As we discuss the books, we will also dig deep into the vocabulary of the book and along the way we will be adding to our bank of words we know. The more words they know, the better readers they will become.
