Organization is Key
Funded Aug 22, 2018I cannot even begin to express how thankful I am for all of you! I don’t typically ask two years in a row, but with Sam things have changed. You are all helping these families and students a ton too!! I went into education to help and make an impact on students with difficulty learning. You have all helped make this possible. I will make sure I mention you all to them and let them know of the good in this world. Too often we don’t see this. Thank you! Thank you!! Love you all!!!”

Funded Aug 23, 2017Thank you SO much for helping fund my second project. The tools that you helped purchase continued to provide materials for data collection, my break zone and Mindfulness. Students on IEP's have numerous goals and objectives. It is imperative that I teach based on these goals and objectives as well as collect data to assess whether my teaching has been effective or if I need to tweak something.
I have 13 students this year with various levels. I must be organized in order to be able to meet all of my students needs. The binders have been a life saver. The students have their own binders which help organize their materials. The student binders also contain independent work materials which support their instruction.
The study carrels and wipe off boards were a HUGE hit with the kids (and the adults :0) It has made testing and grouchy days so much better! SOme kids just like their own space and this provides that! The wipe off boards are saving me a ton of money. I have spent so much money for laminator paper. This allows me to just pop the sheet in the sleeve and the kids can get right to work. They are easy to wipe off when they make mistakes.
Thank you, thank you!!!!”

Mindfulness and Sensory- Whole Child
Funded Aug 22, 2017I do not have the words to adequately thank you for your donation to my class. It has made this year so much better! The students were so excited when I showed them our new materials as were the other staff members that work in my class. I was trained in the Mind Up curriculum a few years ago, this year I finally have the missing pieces to make it an effective curriculum.
The kids are utilizing the taught strategies and meditating twice a day. My goal is to have them meditating 3 times per day as well as when they are dysregulated. They all agree that Tom Brady is the picture of mindfulness. They loved the analogy of the prefrontal cortex as the conductor of an orchestra, the amygdala as the musicians and the hippocampus as the sheet music. They need a calm, non-stressed amygdala in order for the music to sound nice and for the orchestra to work.
We have moved into talking about what is mindful vs. unmindful. I cannot wait to continue. The sensory materials support our break area and keeping the amygdala unstressed. I again appreciate all of your support!!!”
