It is difficult to stay engaged when you have been forced to sit in an uncomfortable chair for seven hours. With this grant, my students would have the opportunity to choose the type of seating to optimize their learning. Summit Learning, a new form of instruction, which is student focused and student directed learning, allows for the teacher to facilitate cognitive skills while students teach themselves content. With such intense everyday engagement, students need to step away from the restraints of the 1960s school desks and into the multi-faceted world of flexible seating. This is a necessity, not an option.
