My students love to use technology and benefit from its integration by making them active learners who are more engaged and responsible, but I have only limited daily access in my mathematics classroom. What computers we have are limited and must be shared amongst all classrooms in the school making daily use impossible. In the past, schools have even tried using student’s personal phones to meet this need but have found that this “solution” creates a whole host of other problems. Grants typically do not purchase computers and leave funding for this equipment to local school systems to use operational funds, which are already stretched. As such, I need your help in order to obtain this much needed equipment which most of us already have in our homes and that our students will be expected to use as the future. Using the Chromebooks, allow for students to work individually and in cooperative groups to complete assignments utilizing such resources as Google Classroom. This request is only a first step but any journey, even one to provide the necessary resources for our kids, must start with a single step.
