Wouldn't it be great to understand geometry and equations rather than trying to memorize random formulas? Middle school math students benefit by having hands-on supplies available to help them visualize and model with mathematics. Tools such as pattern blocks, geometric solids, folding geometric nets, and snap cubes provide this opportunity for curious learners. Complex ideas like volume, surface area, linear modeling and angle measurement are all made more accessible when students can construct 3-dimensional models to analyze, explore, describe and compare. This process of hands-on exploration strengthens understanding and helps students make connections and conceptualize math beyond the memorization of formulas.
