Wonder is an excellent children's book that touches on 5th grade and accepting who you are. Since my students are 5th graders, it would be a great opportunity to help them to be alright with their differences and helping others. In today's world, especially, there has been a lot of negativity and hatred towards our fellow humans and our children need to see that being compassionate to each other is better, even when they are not the same as we are. We would use this book to also work on vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. This is a wonderful, enriching story that would greatly benefit my students.
