Flocabulary Fosters Future Leaders
Funded May 5, 2020Thank you very much for your generosity!! With your donation I was able to purchase a Flocabulary license for my classroom. This resource allows students to learn through music. We learn about Language Arts, Science and Social Studies through rap videos. The songs are so engaging and stick in the student's heads as they sing them down the hallway. I love watching their faces light up as they see the screen come on. They stand up, sing and dance. They don't even realize they are learning and isn't that what it's all about? Making learning enjoyable is a goal I try hard to incorporate into my daily schedule. It makes a big difference in how they view their time at school which makes my time with them more rewarding. So thank you! From the bottom of my heart. You have truly made a difference in the life of a teacher and the lives of 40 students!!”

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 2 other donors."Time" to Be Tolerant
Funded Aug 24, 2017Thank you so much for your support through this project. The idea of teaching tolerance through technology and current events has given me the ability to actively engage students in my first year of teaching. I have a diverse classroom with kids that are hungry to experience all different types of technology. The iPad paired with Time for Kids monthly newsletters have enabled my students to learn more than just the required standards in Social Studies, it enables them to be introduced to today's news using the latest technology.
Many of my students do not have the resources at home that I am able to expose them to at school with the technology and current event magazines. They love being able to see the newsletters on the iPad and being exposed to other digital online resources that are not in the newsletters. It takes them to places they would not normally be able to go to or experience. It provides great extensions to the lessons presented and brings joy to their faces.
These resources reach not only my higher level students as an option to extend their background knowledge, but it also enables the rest of the class to build upon their schemata. This gives them the ability to relate their prior experiences with the new knowledge acquired through these gifts. Without the generosity of everyone, I would not be able to introduce these amazing resources to such deserving students. We sincerely appreciate all you have done for us.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Hepburn
