Eighty percent of the students in my classroom qualify for special services as students with Other Health Impairment due to ADHD. Hard wood or plastic chairs restrict the normal movement required to provide positive sensory input. Stability cushions help students with proprioceptive input which is knowing where your body is in time and space. Studies show this awareness is important to students' overall learning. While sitting in chairs, on the floor or even to help claim a space, stability cushions can help children of all ages and abilities. Students in my classroom participate in independent work time as well as participate in small groups. The cushions are great!
