Hands On Learning
Funded Aug 6, 2020I want to begin with a great, big THANK YOU for taking the time to look through our donors choose project and donate money to sponsor our classroom project! It is because of the kindness and generosity of supporters like you that classroom teachers and students can supplement their learning and make it so much more engaging, interactive and fun! Your support is truly appreciated!
This school year has been a very challenging one for our students. We began the year online and then eventually moved to the physical classroom. Due to Covid, we were not allowed to share materials or pass out manipulatives. Thanks to your generosity, I was able to provide individual supplies to each student to use throughout the year. My students were thrilled when they saw all the different supplies like, dry erase boards, markers, clip boards, math dice. reusable pocket sleeves, and whisper phones. They were so excited to begin to use them! The smiles and excited looks on their faces is what teaching is all about for me!
These supplies have made such a difference this year! We use the dry erase boards to complete Math problems, practice their spelling words, and draw Science diagrams/pictures. This has made it much more interesting and exciting for them. Since we have to wear masks all day (this has been difficult for the students), we use the clip boards to work outside and take fresh air breaks. The whisper phones have been a huge hit! The kids love listening to themselves read. These have really helped develop their reading fluency! The supplies have all made learning fun, educational and helped improve their academic performance!”

Every time, I pass out a new Scholastic Magazine in my class, the students get excited! I have the attention of all of my students! They can't wait to read the articles and look at the interesting pictures! The articles are mostly about Science and Socials Studies so it is a great learning supplement for these classes as well!
While they are using these magazines, I see students actively engaged, reading all the sections of the magazine. I see them discussing with one another their favorite parts and sharing their thoughts. The activities, videos, vocabulary slides and worksheets that come with the magazines are amazing. The kids are eager to complete them and learn from them. I am so thankful to be able to use these magazines with the students in my class! Thank you for supporting my classroom and helping my students develop a joy of reading! Thank you!!!”

Learning Through Art
Funded Jul 22, 2018Thank you so much for your generous support to our classroom. Your contribution has helped make our 2018-2019 school year an amazing, fun and colorful learning experience for our 1st graders. Art helps students develop language skills, cultural awareness, critical thinking, problem solving skills, decision making skills, organizational skills and motor skills. It makes learning fun and educational! Encouraging my students to use their imaginations will help focus and improve their academic performance. My students were thrilled when they saw all the different colored pencils, crayons, paint, paintbrushes, and other art supplies. They were so excited to begin to use them! The smiles and excited looks on their faces is what teaching is all about to me! We have used the colored pencils and crayons to draw pictures of our vocabulary words and to help us express our ideas with pictures when words were difficult for us. We have used many of the other supplies like the paint and paintbrushes, to create beautiful arts and crafts and directed drawings, as we learned about different holidays and traditions. Soon we will begin to study the different habitats and will be using all of our colored pencils, crayons, paint and paintbrushes to make an Ocean Habitat Mural. We are so excited to begin this project and are looking forward to the rest of the school year! We greatly appreciate your help and support!”
