As a previous inclusion teacher, I know of the struggles to keep students focused, still, and on the task at hand. My students were ADHD, ADD, autistic, gifted, and just regular students. Their behavior ranged from quiet, to very disruptive to include throwing things, and or running in hallways. Students lacked focus, and could become disruptive at any given moment. I did not have the opportunity to use these resources because the information was not widespread and I just didn't know where to go. I have heard teachers talking about flexible seating and wanted to know more. I began reading articles about how flexible seating helps a variety of student dynamics, and thought this might be just what my new group of students may need. I want to make my classroom with inclusion more independent ready. The donation for this seating will help keep my students still, and moving, without disruption to an entire classroom setting, during our guided reading time. As a reader, I understand the importance of engaging during reading time. This is when I can take advantage of working with students in a small group setting. I think the wobble chairs will be a great asset to our reading block. Getting students to love, and enjoy reading takes a process. If I can get them to engage and stay focused, then I can help them explore the world of reading with pride and joy.Along with adapting to sensory needs, and giving my students a choice to move, I think the wobble chairs will keep the whole class dynamics success ready.
