Students will be able to move their stools to different areas of the classroom to participate in multiple literacy tasks. Partners may share annotations about text features; a student might whisper read a section of text with a buddy; small groups might create a Graffiti Wall to show their learning; and/or each student might independently explore text for evidence to answer a content framing question. Toxic stress from living in poverty can affect students’ ability to focus; movement can help alleviate these deficits. Being able to move these stools to different areas to change to a new task and being able to wiggle on these stools will help my fourth graders succeed in their academics and their relationships.
