Fun Flexible Seating
Funded Oct 19, 2024My class has been totally transformed because of your gift. I use the stools daily in all of my classes. It has doubled the space I have in the class as well as adding flexibility that has changed the way I teach.
I have always thought of the furniture in my class as an extra teacher. I know that moving groups or moving students to the front or the back of class can totally change the way the class runs. Now, I have that flexibility in the middle of class. I can switch a group of 2 into a group of 5 without having to move a chair or a desk. It is amazing!
These stools have changed the way I am able to impact students every day.
This gift has been one of the most impactful in all of my years of teaching. Thank you so much!”

Funded Sep 3, 2024My class has been totally transformed because of your gift. I use the stools daily in all of my classes. In my reading class, it allows for small group instruction. In my Global History classes, I am able to use the stools to adjust groups in the middle of class as needed. It has changed the way I am able to impact students every day.
I am now able to have small reading groups during my class so I can target reading instruction at 3 levels. The students join me at the front of the room and sit in their stools. This allows me to have a small group and not have to re-arrange all of the furniture in the class.
This gift has been one of the most impactful in all of my years of teaching. Thank you so much!”

Colorful Classroom
Funded Sep 23, 2023I can't express enough thanks for the printer you gifted to my classroom. This printer has allowed me to continue lessons when the copiers are down at my school. But more than that, the printer has allowed me to have colorful images that the students can see and describe easily. The days we write about images have become the favorite lessons for my students. And that is only possible because of you!
Again, explaining graphs and charts in black and white is tricky, but with your printer my students are able to see easily the breakdown of pie charts. Thank you for making this possible!”

Funded Jun 3, 2021This school year has been a roller coaster. It has been so good to be in school and meet some of my students that I taught remotely last year but never met in real life. The students have been so grateful to be back in a classroom and around their friends. And yet, there are certainly gaps in learning, changes in schedules because of vaccine mandates and getting used to teaching with a mask on!
But, thanks to your gift, we didn't have to think about needing supplies. We had notebooks and pencils at the ready. When we told students they just needed to pick up their folder and notebook, I knew that I would be able to set classroom routines for organization from the start.
That was all because of your generosity. Thank you for giving so that this year could be just a little bit easier on everyone.”

Mini can be Mighty
Funded Feb 25, 2021I can not thank you enough for your gift of the mini ipad. No single piece of technology has changed my instruction as much as the mini ipad. I was able to log into my google meet and share my ipad screen, see what my students saw (No more "Miss, can you move up the paper, I can't see what you are writing" that I got when using a document camera), read their questions in the chat and teach graphing inequalities all at the same time!
I have used it in every class since I received it and can't imagine teaching without it.
Thanks doesn't begin to express how grateful I am for the huge leap I was able to make in using technology in the math class .... and all because of your gift.”

Ms. Gilbert
Document Math
Funded Feb 8, 2021Thanks so much for your gift of a document camera for my class.
I had been really struggling to show students how to do math without a smart board or whiteboard at my house. I had made a makeshift whiteboard but it was not doing the job. And then I received your donation! I was able to show them my notebook, draw the graphs, work out quadratic functions and so much more!
In addition, as we transitioned to in-person learning a few days a week, I was able to carry the document camera to and from class in my backpack and use it with in-person students as well.
Thanks so much for your gift, it made a hard school a lot easier!”

Finance Club
Funded Sep 22, 2020I am so happy to write this letter and tell you about all that has happened as a result of your donation. Because of Covid, our after school project was slow to start off. But, we eventually were able to start the club and regularly had 7 students in attendance. They were able to read the book and each month we tackled a topic- budgeting, financing an apartment, car and college, investing and taxes. The students read the book during the week and then we did projects in the club to help concretize the concept into their own personal finance goals.
During this time, the administration of our school noticed the interest of the students and decided to make financial literacy part of the math curriculum for next school year. Students are amazed at what they have learned and have even started helping their families and community better understand how to take charge of their finances.
Thanks so much for this donation because without these books, it would not have been possible.”

Funded May 8, 2020Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. This has been the weirdest year of school in known history. And for NYC that has meant changing the way we do both in person class and remote learning. For my class, I have had students in person (6ft apart and with masks) as well as students at home learning...all at the same time! I have had to go from teaching in 5 different classrooms (and setting up in each one in 2 minutes!) to teaching from my kitchen table...and the year has just started! So, who knows what other changes the rest of the school year will bring.
I have used your donation to provide students with engaging lessons because I have been able to answer questions online with my document camera every day. For my students, the gift of being able to watch me solve a math problem is the difference in understanding or being completely lost. So thank you for your investment in them and their future. Also, the chart paper has been crucial as I have to teach students in person facing in all different directions for safety. The access to chart paper has allowed me to show them how to answer a question (6ft away from them) and they have a poster to reference in the future.
I can't imagine teaching this year without these tools and I am grateful every day as we use them to engage in learning. Thank you so much!”

Funded Aug 12, 2020Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. This has been the weirdest year of school in known history. And for NYC that has meant changing the way we do both in person class and remote learning. For my class, I have had students in person (6ft apart and with masks) as well as students at home learning...all at the same time! Most of them do not have calculators, didn't bring head phones to school and all of them are new to Algebra 1.
I have used your donation to provide students with ear buds so they are able to watch videos, listen to Google Meets and not have feedback in class. Some of my students did not have a phone or calculator. Because of you, this wasn't a problem. I was able to give students a calculator to use this school year. For my students, the gift of a calculator is the difference in understanding the math and being completely lost. So thank you for your investment in them and their future.
I can't imagine teaching this year without these tools and I am grateful every day as we use them to engage in learning. Thank you so much!”

Funded Oct 28, 2019Thank you so much for your gift to my classroom. I use the document camera every day and it allows me to model math problems, show the effect of tectonic plate movements or find things on a map. Without this camera, I wouldn't be able to show students how to do these things.
Just today, I was talking with a student and then realized that the whole group was struggling answering the math problem. I quickly went to the document camera and we all worked on the problem together (with all the students watching, taking notes and asking questions when they didn't understand something). The document camera allowed me to address misunderstandings and help the students understand exactly how to see if 2 functions were equivalent.
I don't know how I taught before I had a document camera and I am so glad that my students this year and in the years to come will be impacted by this gift.
Thank you SO MUCH!”

Ms. Gilbert
