Despite being located in San Francisco, the tech capital of the world, our school lacks the provision of necessary tools needed in all classrooms for students to partake in technology. Technology occupies an important place within the 21st century and it's an important tool to access the Interent. Access to internet is empowerment, because it connects students to all kinds of information, and for low-income students, that access has the power to change their social structure by allowing them to become empowered and engaged. By providing access to technology in the classroom with these Chromebooks, my students will empowered by being able to use them to explore their world and enhance their understanding of the concepts being taught in the classroom. A set of 5 Chromebooks will give my students an opportunity to have technology integrated in their everyday learning lives, which includes doing research and creating in social studies and science, creating books projects projects through Story Creator, and engaging in independent learning through reading apps like MyOn that's customized to their preferred modalities (visually, auditory, etc). Using the laptops will help my students develop the basic computer literacy skills like typing, navigating apps and windows, and opening and closing apps to using google docs, google slides, and navigating search engines for research projects. Classroom concepts can be improved through technology, and some ideas are generated and developed because of technology. My goal as a teacher is to provide my students with limitless opportunities to learn and grow, and I believe that bringing technology to the classroom with these Chromebooks will make this possible. No donation is too small and will be greatly appreciated!
