Art Inspired
Funded Sep 29, 2012Thank you so much for your generosity toward our classroom project. I have been so excited to teach about the different artists using the art books provided. In the past few weeks we have learned to sketch and mirror write like daVinci, paint like Monet, and draw like Cezanne. Using the Anholt books, students feel like they get to know the artist before creating an art piece in their style. The books have helped me inspire them and my students have truly enjoyed the series. Just today, I heard a student comment that art was his favorite subject. Thank you for helping me make these experiences happen for my students.”

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
Funded Sep 7, 2012I want to genuinely thank you for the generous donation toward our classroom project. It has been so exciting to have a working, quality camera to capture the great moments happening in our class. We've had many activities that I've been able to capture with the purchase of our classroom camera and you helped make this possible.
It is very important to me to share what we are doing with our families. My students also love to share what they are learning in class. I am able to share these moments with families through our website. With the use of our working camera, I can capture our learning experiences and post them on our website for our families to witness. Thank you again for helping me continue to post these great pictures.”

Funded Jun 4, 2012Thank you for your donation toward our classroom project. The art racks have been useful in making sure our art project dry quickly and effectively. The mailboxes have truly helped us keep our things organized and making sure all the necessary papers get home. Our mailbox monitor makes sure that all notices sent home daily. She also makes sure homework folders are taken by students on a daily basis. She is able to do this effectively because she uses the mailboxes to distribute the materials and checks it at the end of the day to make sure everyone got their things. Thanks for helping us stay organized.”

Writing Journals
Funded Jun 26, 2012Thank you so much for your generous donation toward our writing journals. My students LOVE morning journal time. I started implementing this at the beginning of this year (half way through first grade). Twice a week, students have a chance to write in their journals. Sometimes, I provide them with a prompt, like write about someone special in your family or about a field trip. Other times, I give them free choice and they get to write about anything they'd like. I must say, they have been so engaged during this time and genuinely interested in writing. Thank you for helping me make this happen in my class.”

Funded Dec 14, 2011Thank you so much for the donation toward my project for iPad accessories. With these resources, I can now connect a classroom iPad to our projector. This allows me to demonstrate photos, videos, and applications to students. I am also able to demonstrate how to use the iPad for pictures. Students have become much more familiar with technology and some students are even able to show me things about the iPad and technology. I love when these opportunities arise and I thank you all for helping me provide these experiences in my class.”

Funded Dec 16, 2011I'd like to thank you all for your participation in funding our classroom project. The bookshelf you helped provide for our class has been so useful. First, we display books we use for our unit study and research. We have now also published some of our own books and we are displaying these on the shelf. It has definitely become a center point for my students and they are so excited to have these books to easily access in our classroom. I know that it helps them feel more important to have their books displayed for all to see. Thank you for helping me make these experiences possible.”

Funded Dec 15, 2011I want to extend my gratitude for the donations that helped fund journals and reading bags for my students. With these materials, my students participated in literature circles, in first grade! They met with their peers to discuss books they were reading. They were able to share this experience with their parents because their book bags made it possible for students to take their books and assignments home daily. My students loved this project and are eagerly awaiting the next cycle. These materials really inspired my first graders to keep reading! Thank you for helping me make this possible.”

Funded Nov 30, 2011I am so appreciative for your generosity in funding our classroom laptop. Our old laptop was very slow and often times I could not use it in class. Now, I am able to use the laptop daily for classroom instruction, videos that make lessons more interactive and engaging. Students are also using them to type their own books. It would be very difficult to complete this project otherwise since only one other computer in our classroom has Word. Our new laptop came in perfect timing to utilize it in many areas of our learning. Thank you for helping me provide this for my students.”

Funded Dec 17, 2011Thank you so much for your support. Your generosity helped fund an easel and book boxes for our classroom. We are now able to display our big books on our easel and have more book boxes to organize our books in our library. Having these resources helps us continue to learn in an organized environment. This makes a difference for my students and my teaching. I was able to organize books under different categories to make it easier for students to access the books. Now, I have seen that students are more interested and able to check out books.”

Funded Dec 28, 2011As you can see from our pictures, my students are utilizing the books you donated for our classroom project. This past week they spent their writing time researching information about a continent. Each group consisted of 3 to 4 students. Together, they read books, searched the Internet, and asked classmates who visited those continents about the continent. This research process has taught them about table of contents, the index of a books, valid resources, and many more important skills. Thank you so much for helping me make this learning possible for my students.”
