  • ILearn With iPad

    Funded Nov 14, 2013

I am so grateful for the great of an iPad for our classroom. It has definitely motivated students and has been used for a variety of purposes. The iPad came at a perfect time because students started a group research project on continents. They loved using the iPad to answer questions they had about their continents and to expand the knowledge they had learned in books. Any time students finish their work early, they are eager to use the iPad to practice math and language arts skills through engaging and interactive game. It has been so great to include this in our class and I am so thankful for your contribution.”

  • Hear Me Out Loud

    Funded Nov 18, 2013

My students were so excited to hear about this project. They love presenting in class so it was perfect to have this portable speaker for them to use. It is so compact so we are able to use it anywhere in the room. The microphones are used during presentations and it helps build students' confidence. We have had a few opportunities now where students can use this resource and they are eager to use it always. A few times a week, I choose students to share their math or writing journal. Most of the time, students will request to use the microphone and speaker. I love that they are so enthusiastic about learning and sharing. Thank you for helping me make this happen.”

  • Journal Writing

    Funded Aug 13, 2013

Thank you so much for your donation toward our classroom project, Journal Writing. I have been able to start a journal writing program, 3 times a week. The kids love coming in on those mornings to write about a selected topic or even better, Free Choice. At the end of each 15-20 minute block of journal writing, I select 3 students to share their writing with their class. Believe it or not, they love this part! They get enthusiastic about sharing their ideas with their classmates. The rest of the class is eager to hear what their friends have to share. It is so great to see them so motivated about writing and these journals have helped make this experience possible.”

  • Inspiring Creativity

    Funded Jun 21, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous donation and interest in our class project. My students have thoroughly enjoyed each and every book in this project. I was able to use these books to start the year off in a great way. They have inspired my students to be creative, think outside the box, and appreciate each other's differences. We used "Ish" and "The Dot" to create art projects inspired by Peter Reynold's work. We used some of the other books to learn how to "fill each other's buckets" and b e creative with holes in books. :) These books have been a great addition to our classroom library and they are the first books rush to read. Thank you for helping me make this happen.”

  • Paper Cutter

    Funded May 3, 2013

The paper cutter and materials have been so useful for our classroom. I have been able to utilize these resources daily to enhance our classroom environment. We've been able to use our paper cutter to make sure everything is straight on our bulletin boards. This helps our scholars be proud of the work they accomplish because they see that it will be on display for others to view. They love seeing their work up and it really helps to have the right materials to help with this task.

I've been able to have students use the paper punches for behavior management. One scholar each week is chosen as the Scholar of the Week. Among other tasks, this student awards others with a paper punch on a reward card at the end of the day. This can be used for prizes at the prize box. The Scholar of the Week uses the paper punch daily so as you might imagine, they don't always last too long. It has been great to have extras of these so the Scholar of the Week can continue to do their job. :) Thank you for your generosity and interest in our class.”

  • Smart About Art

    Funded Apr 5, 2013

Thank you so much for your contribution to our art books. My students completed an art portfolio this year that included work inspired by 9 different artists. With the art books you helped provide, students were able to learn about the artist and their style before completing an art project in the style of that artist. I must say that students were so motivated by reading about these artists and their completed portfolios were very impressive. Thank you for helping me make this art project happen.”

  • Markers Galore

    Funded Jan 28, 2013

My students thoroughly enjoyed the use of the markers for various projects. They were using them constantly as they completed projects for Open House. Parents were so excited to see the work presented so neatly and it was obvious students were trying their best. I think using the markers helped complete these projects. Since they had received the new markers, students felt that they needed to do their best when completing their projects. Thank so much for helping provide this resources for my students.”

  • Young Authors

    Funded Mar 27, 2013

My students have now completed writing their own folktales and these books definitely helped them develop their ideas. They were so excited to receive the books and begged me each day to read the different versions out loud. When they completed their books, they were eager to share their stories with their friends, classmates, and families. They were so proud of their accomplishment and having these books added to our library helped me make the most of this literacy experience. Thank you so much for your consideration and generosity.”

  • Sharp Pencils For Sharp Students

    Funded Dec 7, 2012

A few months ago, all we had was one pencil sharpener with exposed wires. I was always afraid that the sharpener would either stop working or we would get hurt. This made me cautious and worried about sharpening students' pencils. With the addition of a new pencil sharpener, I no longer have these fears. A pencil monitor is now able to freely sharpen students' pencils daily. All students are now able to write with sharp pencils and color with sharp colored pencils. This makes it so much easier to teach writing because we don't have to stop constantly because students don't have a sharp pencil. Thank you for helping me have this tool in my class.”

  • Print In Color

    Funded Nov 14, 2012

Thank you for your generosity toward our classroom project. When the year started, I was afraid I would not be able to print student work and/or posters to aid our classroom environment. I learned last year that ink could be very pricey and with only one printer in the class, I found it difficult to print in color freely. However, with your help, I've been able to print documents for my students, posters to label their work, pictures for their scholar books, and pictures for their projects without worrying about running out of ink. Thank you so much for helping me make this happen.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Banuelos

As students get older, reading often times starts to decrease. Many primary classrooms have comfortable rugs and reading areas for students. I'd like to provide a similar comfortable reading environment for my fifth graders.
