  • Technology Please!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

This was amazing!! Our children need technology in the classroom for so many reasons. We are so thankful that there are people like you who care about our schools. I can't wait to have everything set up and surprise my class!! The chromebooks and tablets will be perfect for research, coding, reading, math help and so much more!! Happy Spring!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. D.

  • Go Green STEM Projects And an Artist Study!

    Funded Jul 12, 2017

The students are so excited to be working with all these amazing materials. We unpacked the materials as a group and their faces lit up. We are talking about holding a maker fair at the school when we have more projects complete and invite the parents and students downstairs to see what we have done. We will explain the science behind everything as well.

It was hard to choose what project we wanted to do first but who doesn't love legos? The students were so intent on building their first lego contraption. They can't wait to finish and try them out so they can move on to the next one. We are also very excited to try our brush bots - how can a scrub brush be a robot?

Thank you so much for giving these children hands on experiences in science, STEM and engineering. I'm sure they will talk about these things for a long time to come. Have a wonderful holiday and a happy healthy new year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. D.

The students will have hands on experience while investigating big ideas. They can go green using wind and solar power! Use green products like potatoes and lemons for power! Even creating robots to solve problems. Kits such as recycled paper beads and cleaning water will be used. The kits we are using are by Rube Goldberg. Along with being a scientist, he was also an artist! We will collaborate with the art teacher, using books from donors choose and others to study and recreate his art. We will also see how the art ties into the science projects. How exciting it will be to see my future engineers, so eager to learn, create working projects and robots that solve real life problems. The students will finally be able to think outside the box and create using math, ela and science skills along with imagination and creativity. They will further social skills and language development too.
