Distanced But Together
Funded Jun 9, 2020This year has brought so many challenges, but reading and the feeling of togetherness has helped us all. On March 13, 2020 my sweet class said what we thought was goodbye for 2 weeks. We met on the computer to share how we were feeling, but that was it. After the two weeks were up-- we still stayed home. My goal was for all of my students to still feel all of the things we held so dear in our classroom. Our room was filled with artwork, sunshine, and smiles. The prisms given to each student was to remind them of this sunshiney, rainbow place. The books were some of our favorites, and a new one to remind them how special they are. The art supplies and sketchbooks were to allow students to express themselves in this scary time. My daughter and I packed up the car one afternoon and delivered these packages to my students. It was such a relief to see their smiling faces, and to have a brief moment of "normal".
My hope is that my students see these items and remember the incredible times we had together in our amazing classroom. I hope they share their love for art and literature with people throughout their entire lives, and these memories were made possible because of your extremely generous donations. Sending all of my love + light as we continue this wild ride we are on.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. McGrath
